THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DE WAAL ”ROYAL” PARK

In 2011 the Friends of De Waal Park Association have completed using the Associations funds & special Donations ;-

  • FDWP repaired all benches with the help of Baltic Timber
  • FDWP have either painted them or varnished them – materials donated by DULUX & POINT BUILDING –Labour FDWP
  • FDWP have replaced the drains from the Fountain-
  • FDWP have painted the Play centre –
  • FDWP have concreted around the Slide and under The Big Wheel etc
  •  All bases of Playground Equipment have been Rubberised. Council
  • FDWP have re grassed around Slide etc
  • FDWP have had all the lights repaired and are now working –
  •  Council Part of the inner Road and put in 1 speed bump repaired – Council & FDWP
  • FDWP have restored and repainted Black & Gold entrance Gates – FDWP have repaired top pedestrian gate
  • FDWP have cleared drains flooding near Fountain
  • FDWP have improved Security and removed 80% of people sleeping in the Park
  • FDWP pay for “FREE” Pooh bags – A Donor would be most helpful
  • FDWP pay “Streetwerk” to empty the litter and Pooh Bins weekly -
  •  FDWP pay “Streetwerk” to clean the Fountain
  • FDWP pay “Streetwerk” to clear all litter on a Sunday
  • The Web site has been greatly overhauled and improved – FDWP
  • The 2 cubicle doors latches n the Ladies have been replaced – FDWP
  • FDWP have installed a NO PARKING sign for the turn around off the Road – Donated by Johan
  • FDWP have installed an extensive Jungle Gym – Donated by Markovitz Family
  • Fountain has been water proofed – Donated by PENETRON & FDWP
  • FDWP have planted 14 trees – donated by Winnie & Charles
  • Chess Table & Benches installed– part Donation – part FDWP
  • Created and planted new Flower Beds near “Mike’s” & “Wally’s” Gates + old Flower Beds near Toilet – Marianne Smit & FDWP
  • Automatic Imported Hydraulic Park Gate Closers have been fitted to “Mikes” Gate and Wally’s” Gate and the Pedestrian Gate –Donors & FDWP
  • Imported two state-of-the-art child safety swing seats from Scotland at cost of R2,500 each.

AMOUNT SPENT BY FRIENDS OF DE WAAL PARK AND DONORS = over R180, 000

Things to come

  • 10 Sunday Concerts every 2nd week from November to April – Sponsors & FDWP
  • Top Road resurfacing and more Speed bumps – Council & FDWP
  • More Picnic Table and Benches to be installed – Donors and FDWP
  • A “Boule” or “Petanque” court to be installed – FDWP
  • A 5metre French Luncheon Table built round a tree–
